Orange Roses Growing Tips
Growing orange roses is no different from growing any other rose cultivar. The care and growing requirements are similar to that of other roses. Here is how you can grow orange roses:
- Take 8-12 inches cutting from the sides of the plant. Spring is the ideal time to take the cutting.
- Cutting from a new growth rather than hardened wood has more chance of rooting. Also, take a cutting from the side shoot rather than the main stem.
- Remove leaves from the bottom half of the cutting to redirect the plants’ energy towards rooting.
- Dip the rooting end of the cutting in a rooting hormone to facilitate germination.
- Plant the orange rose cutting in a well-draining potting mix that holds moisture to some extent.
- Add perlite, peat moss, or vermiculite to the potting mix if it isn’t well-draining.
- Locate the pot at a bright spot where it receives plenty of sun in the morning but is protected in the afternoon.
- Ensure that the pots have drainage holes at the bottom.
- Wear gloves while taking the cutting and planting as roses have prickly thorns.
- Cover the cutting with a plastic sheet or mason jar to create greenhouse-like conditions.
- Finally, have patience as it can take a couple of years for the orange roses to bloom. Once they bloom, it’ll be a sight to behold!
